01 A smart harvester

We've put together a set of programming tasks for you, arranged in a story. It's up to you whether it will have a happy ending.

Farmer John has bought a smart harvester. It can harvest the crops on its own — you just need to program it correctly. John would like to try it out, but he doesn’t understand how it works at all. So he’s turning to you for help.

The road to the fields leads uphill along a winding path. The harvester must first drive up there so it can start harvesting.

Help John program the route correctly.

02 Corn Harvest

The corn is planted in rows. The harvester must not miss a single one.

Program the harvester to ensure a perfect harvest!

The maximum number of blocks allowed is 11. You can see the number of blocks used above the Start button. The "startup" block and the blue numbered blocks are not counted.

03 Pest-damaged crop

Oh no! Part of the field has been infected!
John farms organically, so he can’t spray the field. However, he wants to drive through the field, mow the infected plants, and take them away for eco-friendly disposal. He needs to plan the route correctly so that he doesn’t mow any healthy plants in the process.

Program the harvester to mow only the infected plants.

The maximum number of allowed blocks is 9. The "startup" block and the blue blocks with numbers are not counted.

04 Three fields

Ripe corn is waiting to be harvested around the edges of the other three fields. The harvester needs a precise plan so it doesn’t harvest the unripe corn inside the fields.

Program the harvester to harvest the ripe portion of the crop.

The maximum number of allowed blocks is 9. The "startup" block and the blue blocks with numbers are not counted.

05 Rocket start

John noticed a creature with an unhealthy color in the field. “Hi, I’m I.T. What do you need?” it said.

What do you mean, what do I need?” asked a startled John.

Well, you drew those three squares in the field—that’s an intergalactic SOS signal. So I flew over to help you.

"Oh. But I don’t need any help."

"But I do. Unfortunately, I damaged my rocket during landing and can’t take off with it. But could I use your harvester…?"

John agreed, and the creature got to work, gutting the harvester and installing its computer into its rocket. "The rocket needs to be calibrated first, but I don’t know how to program your harvester computer," added I.T.

Program the rocket to fly around the shape of the pattern.

The maximum number of allowed blocks is 5.

06 The Crown Constellation

"Come with me—I need help programming the computer," asked I.T.

John loves adventure, and he was excited about this mission.

"Only those who activate the stargate using its pattern can enter my galaxy in the Crown Constellation," says I.T.

Fly your rocket around the shape to activate the gate.

The maximum number of blocks allowed is 14.

07 Evasive move

It looks like an enemy spaceship manned by intergalactic pirates! The rocket must perform an evasive move to avoid them. “Only good programming can save us…,” sighed John.

Program the evasive move and save the crew.

The maximum number of blocks allowed is 11.

08 The way home

The crew is almost back on their home planet, but one final obstacle awaits them—a gravitational wave.
They must fly exactly along the waveform, or they’ll get lost in time!

Program the rocket to fly along the gravitational wave. That’s the only way I.T. gets home.

The maximum number of blocks allowed is 7.

09 The end of the story

I.T. got home safely, and thanks to you, our story ended just as it should have.
